Everyone is cordially invited to attend the 10th Annual Advent Concert Series at St. John’s with four different concerts! The series starts off with the Song of the Pines Chorus. Song of the Pines Chorus is a member of Sweet Adelines International, a non-profit, worldwide organization of female singers who meet regularly to rehearse, perform, socialize and have fun. Most of their members come from the Prescott Quad-City area, but they also have members who drive from Phoenix and other adjacent cities. Song of the Pines is a performing and competing chorus that has been an active part of the Prescott music scene for many years. They are an exuberant group of women who sing four-part barbershop harmony a cappella style. We are excited to have them kick-off the concert series on December 1st in the sanctuary of St. John’s at 4:30 p.m.
The second concert will be held on December 8th at 4:30 p.m. and it will be the Mar y Sol Mariachi Band from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. They will offer a diverse and rich cultural heritage and tradition by sharing their love of mariachi music with us.
The third event will be our annual Lessons and Carols religious service on December 15th, again at 4:30 pm. Several area clery will read the lessons, and the St. John’s choir with special guests will provide beautiful Christmas music between each reading.
The final concert on December 22nd at 4:30 pm will feature Williams High School music students performing both vocal and instrumental pieces for our enjoyment.
Each concert is followed by refreshments in Walker Hall.
There is a free-will offering for each concert.
