Blessing of the Animals, October 2, 2022

puppy kitten blessing

Our pets are a blessing in our lives.  And on Sunday, October 2nd, from noon to 2 PM, your pet can receive a blessing at St. John’s from Pastor Fox.  The first Sunday in October churches around the world celebrate the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, who is the patron saint of animals. The Blessing of the Animals at St. John’s is part of this celebration and it has been a free and annual event for the community of Williams for several years.

Each pet will receive a blessing along with a St. Francis of Assisi pet charm that can be worn on a collar.

Please bring your leashed pets (or have them in a carrier if they are shy or are not comfortable/social around other animals) for a special blessing.  Weather permitting, we will be outside by the big maple tree and the main doors.  If it is raining, we will be right inside the red doors.  Large animals – yes even horses – can be trailered to the front of the church, and Rev. Fox will come to your trailer to do the blessing.
