It’s time again for our annual Pancake Dinner at St. John’s. Everyone, of all ages, in the Williams Community is invited to come on March 5th. We will be serving, besides the pancakes, sausages, fresh fruit, syrups, and beverages. There will be a free-will offering for the pancake dinner. We will start serving those delicious pancakes at 5 pm and end at 7 pm.
Everyone is welcome to stick around and keep visiting during cleanup! We will be serving the dinner in Walker Hall, adjacent to the sanctuary. It is handicap accessible. Lots of parking is available along Grant and Second Streets in downtown Williams, Arizona. We are just one block south of Historic Route 66 in the center of the historic downtown area.
Shrove Tuesday is also celebrated as Fat Tuesday and Mardi Gras. It is the day immediately preceding Ash Wednesday and the start of the Lenten Season in the Christian church. Traditionally Shrove Tuesday is the day that people used up all the fats and sugars in their homes in preparation of Lent – a time when many people did not and still do not eat fats, eggs and sugars.
