Worship Service for Sunday September 29, 2024

Our help is in the Name of the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth. — Psalm 124

Please join us this Sunday for our Sunday worship service with Holy Communion/The Eucharist at 10:30 a.m.  Fr. Philip Shaw will lead us in worship.  All are invited and welcome at St. John’s.  And by “all” we mean ALL.St. John’s is an affirming church located in the heart of Williams, Arizona.  We celebrate our two traditions, the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA) and The Episcopal Church, (which is part of the Anglican Communion, and includes over 85 million people in more than 165 countries) in our services.  Everyone who attends our services is welcome to partake in Holy Communion.   During communion, we receive the bread, and we offer the one cup. For Episcopalians, we also offer intinction of the wafer (bread) in the cup. As is a custom for Lutherans, we offer small glasses of wine. We also offer small glasses of grape juice.  Gluten free wafers are available.  You may also come forward and cross your arms over your chest if you would only like to receive a blessing.  We want everyone to feel welcome and comfortable at St. John’s no matter what your background may be.

After the service, please stay for our coffee hour which typically boasts some very yummy homemade treats along with robust coffee, iced tea or ice water.  Lots of conversation and getting to know each other happens when we relax and enjoy food together.
