We are being allowed to gather for worship, including Eucharist in one kind [bread only] outside or inside in groups of 10 or less. Pastor Cheryl Fox will hold our regular 10:30 a.m. worship at the church on June 28th. Memorial Service for Darlene Bailey to Be Held November 9th
A celebration of life for Darlene Joyce Bailey (nee Haffener) will be held on November 9, 2019, at 2 pm at St. John’s Episcopal-Lutheran Church in Williams, with the Reverend Ann Johnson officiating. Darlene and her daughter, Pat McShane, were resident of Williams and members of St. John’s until their recent move to Texas. The service will conclude with a reception in Walker Hall.
Organ Dedication with Hymn Sing and Potluck Lunch
On Sunday, August 11, 2019, we will be dedicating the organ that was donated to us by Mrs. Janice Luke. Mrs. Luke will be playing the organ during our service, and we will join her in singing our favorite hymns – and most of them she will play from heart! After the service, everyone will have an opportunity to thank Mrs. Luke for her gift to St. John’s at a potluck lunch. Continue reading
Holy Week Services and Activities
During Holy Week 2019, there will be many special services and opportunities for you to participate in the Passion of our Lord, Jesus Christ, and his resurrection at St. John’s in Williams, AZ. We welcome everyone to these services and events.
The following schedule is for Holy Week April 14-21, 2019:
- April 14 – Palm Sunday Service – 10:30 am, with the Eucharist.
- April 18 – Seder Meal – 5:00 pm – Passover Meal. Please sign up for the meal and also to let us know what dish you can provide.
- April 18 – Maundy Thursday Service – 7 pm This service will include the ritual of foot washing. The altar guild will strip the altar after the service (ritual procession to the Altar of Repose).
- April 19 – Good Friday Service – Noon to 3 pm. There will be a liturgy at noon, followed by the vigil until 3 pm. The church will be open for anyone wishing to come anytime during those three hours for a time of prayer and contemplation.
- April 21 – Easter Sunday – 8:00 am – 8:30 am – Vigil. 9:00 am – Easter Sunday breakfast. 10:30 am – Full Easter Service with special music by St. John’s Ecumenical Choir.
Episcopal Bishop Kirk Smith of the Arizona Diocese to Lead Worship July 29th
A snowstorm last March canceled our service with Bishop Kirk Smith, but we are delighted to let you know that he is joining us July 29th. He will lead us in worship at 10:30 am and we will have a potluck dinner with him following the service.
