“Pray like it all depends on God, then when you are done, go work like it all depends on you.” — Martin Luther
This Sunday we celebrate the Reformation. Martin Luther, who was a German teacher and a monk, brought about the Protestant Reformation when he challenged the Catholic Church’s teachings starting in October 1517 when he posted his famous 95 Theses. We will learn more about Martin Luther during our service, and we will also celebrate with special music. Our service begins at 10:30 a.m. and is followed by our reception in Walker Hall with coffee, tea and treats.
All are invited and all are welcome at St. John’s. We are an affirming church that combines the traditions of both the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) and The Episcopal Church in the US. Explore our website to learn more about our history and when these two denominations combined in Williams.
During our Coffee Hour time we will also be putting together Hope Bags for our Senior Center in Williams. We have lots of items ready to bag up but we do need packets of tuna or chicken to place in them. If you can bring a few this Sunday, that would be most helpful as we typically put together 15 bags to take to the Center.
If you cannot join is this week, you may wish to click on the following link that is the Lectionary for this Sunday. This link will give you the Prayer of the Day (Collect) and also the four scripture readings that will be read during our service. Proper-25C1 (PDF of the Lectionary for October 26th)
We hope to see you this Sunday!
